non explosive

Additional information

The test substance contains one chemical group associated with explosive properties, but the exothermic decomposition energy is 66 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is 359°C by DSC.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The explosive properties of substance were screened based on a set of criteria for C&L as outline in the section R.7.1.11 of Guidance chapter R.7a of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006

-Step1: The substance contains one chemical group "azo compound" which might be associated with explosive properties

-Step2: The experimental determination by DSC on substance showed the exothermic decomposition energy is (66 J/g) less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is (359°C) below 500°C.

The experimental data by DSC indicated that the substance does not have a potential for rapid energy release.

It can be concluded that the substance is not to be considered having potential explosive properties. Thus it is not to be classified as an explosive material
