Description of key information

Flammability: non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The flammability study is not required for liquids as flammability is assessed on the basis of flash point.

There is no indication on the basis of structure and experience in handling and use that the substance is pyrophoric (flammable in contact with air) or flammable in contact with water.

Therefore, in accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, there is no need to conduct further flammability testing.

Hydrocarbons, C12-C15, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics was observed not to sustain a flame >15 seconds in a sustained burning test which was performed in accordance with ASTM D4206 and in compliance with known quality system (ISO 9001).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not classified as Flammable Liquid on the basis of measured flash point of 86 ± 2°C. In addition, Hydrocarbons, C12-C15, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics does not sustain a flame >15 seconds.
