Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance does not contain any oxidizing groups. In accordance with column 2 (Specific rules for adaptation from column 1) of REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), 7.13 (Oxidising properties), a study does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, for example on the basis of the chemical structure.

The substance is a UVCB substance containing inorganic sodium chloride, free fatty acid sodium salt, and constituents containing ethane sulphonic acid functions. Oxygen atoms are only bound to carbon atoms except for oxygen atoms belonging to sulphonic acid functions. Sodium isethionate (CAS No. 1562-00-1) can be considered as surrogate for the ethane sulphonic acid function. Sodium isethionate does not exhibit oxidising properties in a study according to guideline EU A.17 performed under GLP. Therefore it can be considered that also constituents of the UVCB substance containing ethane sulphonic acid functions do not contribute to oxidising properties.

Thus testing of the UVCB substance for oxidising properties is not warranted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance does not contain any oxidizing groups. Therefore classification for oxidising properties is not warrranted.
