Additional information

Groups of 10 male and female rats were exposed to the subject chemcial at concentrations of 0, 100, 200 and 400 ppm for 6 hours/day, 5 days/week for 14 weeks. Clinical signs and body weight gains were recorded. Neurological analyses included a Functional Observational Battery (FOB), conducted 4 days prior to exposure and at 4, 10, 32, 60 and 95 days after the initial exposure. Forelimb and hind limb grip strengths were also quantitatively evaluated. Central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS) tissues were examined histopathologically. No neurological defects were noted in the FOB analyses. Neuropathological lesions were not observed either in the CNS or PNS of exposed rats.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of sub-chronic inhalation toxicity testing in rats, the subject chemical would not be classified for “neurotoxicity” according to Directive 67/548/EEC, EU CLP (Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 and UN GHS.
