Description of key information

Substance decomposes before boiling (OECD 103). Because of instability of the substance, the boiling point of n-butanol is used as a key value in CSA.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

117 °C

Additional information

The boiling point of this substance was carried out in accordance with GLP as per OECD guideline 103 by using a differential scanning calorimetry method. Boiling point could not be determined as substance decomposed before boiling.

The target substance is hydrolytically unstable. Because the rapid hydrolysis is the driving force in CSA, read-across data on the boiling point of n-butanol released from the substance is used as a key value in exposure assessment (peer-reviewed handbook value, Lide 2008).
