First-aid measures

Eye contact Holding the eyelids apart, flush eyes promptly with copious flowing water for at least

20 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.

Skin contact Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and plenty of

water for at least 15 minutes. Wash clothing before re-use.

Get medical attention immediately.

Inhalation In case of dust inhalation or breathing fumes released from heated material, remove

person to fresh air. Keep him quiet and warm. Apply artificial respiration if necessary

and get medical attention immediately.

Ingestion If swallowed, wash mouth thoroughly with plenty of water and give water to drink.

Get medical attention immediately.

Notes to the physician In case of ingestion induce vomiting in alert patient.

Treat symptomatically and supportively.

No specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, alcohol foam or polymer foam.

Fire fighting procedure Cool containers with water spray. In closed stores, provide fire-fighters with selfcontained

breathing apparatus in positive pressure mode

Unusual fire and explosion

hazards When heated to decomposition, may release poisonous and corrosive fumes of HBr

and oxides of phosphorus.

Dust may form a weak explosive mixture with air ( class St1) at elevated temperature

(>101°C). [Kst = 90 bar.m.s(-1)]

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves.

Methods for cleaning up Sweep up, place in a bag and hold for waste disposal or possible re-use

Avoid raising dust.

Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete.

Avoid access to streams, lakes or ponds.

Handling and storage

Handling Keep containers tightly closed.

Avoid bodily contact.

Storage Store in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Will decompose from ca. 375 deg C releasing poisonous and

corrosive fumes.

Chemical reaction with water: None.

Dust explosion: As the substance is an organic solid there is a potential

for dust explosion.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The product and its used package may be recycled.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Controlled dumping at a licensed landfill.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent and

burn in a chemical incinerator equiped with an afterburner

or scrubber.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain as a bound

component of a polymer. Recovery is not feasible although

the polymer may be recycled.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
