Additional information

Geranylacetate has been identified as a class 3 type compound (Vinyl/Allyl Ketone) according to Verhaar (1992). Thus the mode of action is assumed as unspecific reactive. For these MoA class an a/c-ratio (90-percentile) of 31.7 is reported by ECETOC (Technical report No. 91). Taking this into account it can be concluded, that - considering an a/c-ratio <100 - it is unlikely that a long-term fish study would decrease the PNEC (relative to the PNEC from acute studies with an AF of 1000) and thus not significantly change the risk assessment. Furthermore the substance is readily biodegradable. In conclusion, a long-term study to aquatic invertebrates therefore is deemed not to be necessary.
