Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not relevant in regard to abiotic degradation in the environment (DT50 > 1 yr).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis offatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS 85711-45-1)are available. However, in accordance with Annex VIII, column 2, 9.2.2.1. of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, testing is not required since the substance is readily biodegradable. In addition, supporting QSAR calculations (HYDROWIN v2.00) for its main components indicate, that hydrolysis is a negligible pathway for the environmental fate of the substance in the environment (DT50 > 1 yr (pH 7); Hopp, 2011).
