Description of key information

Substance is non-flammable, EU Test Method A.10, Angly 1999

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability:

The flammability of solid substance was investigated using EU Test Method A.10 Flammability (solids). Ignition with a hot flame of a gas burner results in melting of the substance. The molten substance does not sustain a flame. The substance is non-flammable.

Pyrophoricity:

In accordance with section 1.5 of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, the study does not need to be performed as based on assessment of the chemical structure pyrophoric properties are not to be expected and this is supported by experience in handling and use for the substance. According to ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment (Chapter R.7a: Endpoint Specific Guidance, R.7.1.10.4, May 2008), pyrophoricity testing is scientifically unjustified.

Flammability on contact with water:

In accordance with section 1.5 of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006,Annex XI, the study does not need to be performed as based on assessment of the chemical structure flammability on contact with water properties are not to be expected and this is supported by experience in handling and use for the substance. According to ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment (Chapter R.7a: Endpoint Specific Guidance, R.7.1.10.4, May 2008), flammability on contact with water testing is scientifically unjustified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance does not meet classification criteria under EU Directive 67/548/EEC for flammability.

The substance does not meet classification criteria under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 for flammability.
