Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In water, titanium tetrachloride rapidly hydrolyses to the naturally occuring titanium dioxide and to hydrochloric acid. The toxicity of titanium dioxide on fish was investigated by Dorfman in a static system, using mummichog (Fundulus heteroclitus) as test organism. The 96 hour LC50 value was shown to be greated than 1000 mg/L (Dorfman, 1977).
