Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

This test requirement is waived based on the ready biodegradability and low potential for sediment adsorption of any of the principal components of the test material.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Dipropylene glycol methyl ether, tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether and sodium methanolate (as methanol), the principal components of the glycol ethers heavies are readily biodegradable in freshwater with a low potential for adsorption to sediment. According to REACH Annex IX requirements, sediment simulation testing shall only be considered for substances with a high potential for adsorption to sediment and need not be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable, hence a simulation test in water and sediment can be waived for the reaction mass of DPM, TPM, and sodium methanolate.
