First-aid measures

SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Wash off with plenty of water for 30 minutes. Get medical attention. The person who is giving first aid, should wear personal protective equipment.

EYE CONTACT: Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for 30 minutes. Get immediate medical attention.  The person who is giving first aid, should wear personal protective equipment.

INHALATION: Breathe fresh air and rest. Oxygen and artificial respiration if needed. Get immediate medical attention.

INGESTION: If victim is conscious, immediately rinse mouth with water and give large quantities of water to drink. DO NOT induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures


SPECIAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIRE-FIGHTERS: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective gear.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS: Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not breathe vapours. Wear personal protective equipment. Isolate the area. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Apply water spray or mist to knock down vapors.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Avoid release to the environment. Do not flush into surface waters or sanitary sewer system. If the product contaminates waterways or drains inform respective authorities.

METHODS FOR CLEANING UP: Absorb with non-combustible materials such as sand or earth and collect in a suitable container to be disposed of in accordance with local regulations DO NOT use acids to neutralize.  

Handling and storage

HANDLING: Advice on safe handling: Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothes. Do not breathe vapours. Do not heat up. Keep away from acids. Use only in well-ventilated areas. The solution should be kept strongly  alkaline (pH > 10) in order to avoid release of gaseous hydrogen sulfide.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: The product itself is not flammable. When heated, may produce highly flammable and toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.


- Keep in a cool and well-ventilated place.

- Keep only in the original container. Keep the container tightly closed.

- Keep away from acids and heat sources.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

HAZARDOUS REACTIONS: Contact with acids liberates flammable and toxic gas (H2S). May be corrosive to metals.
