Description of key information

Flammability:
The test substance melted when approached by the ignition flame. The substance didn't burn down or burn up and is classified as not highly flammable when tested according to the above-mentioned procedure.
Contact with water:
The test item does not liberate gases in hazardous amounts when tested according to this procedure. The substance does not emit flammable gases on contact with water.
Pyrophoric properties:
In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically unjustified. Based on experience during handling and use, no pyrophoric properties were observed and the structure does not give a reference to pyrophoric properties.
Self heating properties:
In a Grever Oven Test the test item showed no self heating properties up to the melting point.
Self reacting properties:
Following the VDI guideline 2263 part 1 an exothermic reaction (-672 J/g) was detected at 178 °C. Thus, the criteria for a self-reactive substance were not met and hence no classification as a self-reactive substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not classified in the Annex I of Directive 67/548/EEC. According to the information summarized in this below, no classification on flammability is needed:

- As liquid, no flash point up to 249 °C;

- As liquid, boiling point is higher than 300 °C;

- No pyrophoric property, based on experience from production and handling;

- It does not ignite spontaneously with water and does not liberate flammable gases in hazardous amounts in contact with water.

Based on the data summarized above, Imidazotriazoinon is also not flammable according to GHS (Regulation EC 1272/2008).
