La determinación del punto de fusión/congelación del carbón vegetal se ha realizado mediante el método de tubo capilar.
La sustancia se calienta hasta 405 ° C en un tubo capilar de vidrio dentro de un bloque de aluminio hasta su fusión. Un segundo sistema de ensayo se establece para lograr la fusión de las sustancias con la temperatura de fusión más alta.

The determination was performed in duplicate. In both determinations, no melting was observed up to 404°C. In an additional experiment, the test item was set into a muffle oven and heated up to 1095 °C.

No melting of the test item of charcoal (Probe 2: C-Fix = 80.5%) was detected up to a temperature of 1095°C.

Under the experimental conditions used in the study (highest temperature: 1095°C), no melting point of the test item charcoal (Probe 2: C-Fix = 80.5%) could be determined.

Conclusions:

Executive summary:

Determination of the melting point of charcoal (Probe 2: C-Fix = 80.5%) was conducted according to OECD 102 resp. EU A.1 test method and under the GLP compliance.

The test item was ground and sieved. A dried fraction was filled in a glass capillary tube and set in an aluminium block. The aluminium block was heated up to 404°C and the test item was constantly observed to determine the melting point. As no melting could be observed, the test item was heated up to 1095°C in a muffle oven. Again no melting was observed.

Under the experimental conditions used in the study (highest temperature: 1095°C), no melting point of the test item charcoal (Probe 2: C-Fix = 80.5%) could be determined.
