Conclusions:
The incubation of diethyl carbonate with homogenates of bovine kidney or mucous membrane from the small intestine resulted in an enzymatic cleavage of the substance. The increase in pressure caused by liberated CO2 was measured manometrically in a Warburg apparatus.
