If released into the atmosphere, 2-mercaptobenzothiazolewould be in the form of an aerosol and be removed by gravitational settling. Vapor-phase 2-mercaptobenzothiazole will react with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals resulting in an estimated atmospheric half-life of 8.4 hr
