Description of key information

In a reliable study, the 72h-EC50 and the 72h-EC10 for freshwater algae were found to 10 mg/L (active ingredient, growth rate) and 1.3 mg/L (active ingredient, growth rate) based on geometric mean measured concentrations, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1.3 mg/L

Additional information

One study on toxicity to aquatic algae has been conducted in 2012 with Dermalcare MAP L-213/S under GLP conditions and following OECD 201 guideline. The study reports a 72h-EC50 to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata of 10 mg/L and a 72h-EC10 of 1.3 mg/L (growth rate, based on geometric mean measured concentrations and expressed as active ingredient).

All the validity criteria are fulfilled and this study is considered to have a reliability of (1).

Dermalcare MAP L-213/S is considered as harmful to aquatic algae in accordance with the EU criterion (Directive 67/548/EC).
