Description of key information

A series of 10 measurements was performed to determine the surface tension of the pure test item . One further serie of 10 measurements was performed for verification on the same sample. The surface tension for the respective series of measurements were 64.27 and 64.99 mN/m. No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time and temperature were observed. The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range. The surface tension of the test item is 64.27 mN/m. As all measured values were higher than 60 mN/m, the reaction mass of DIPE and 2-methylpent-2-ene was classified as not surface active.

Additional information

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of reaction mass of DIPE and 2-methylpent-2-ene was determined according to OECD 115 resp. EU A.5 guidelines under GLP. The surface tension was measured to be 64.27 ± 0.09 mN/m

at 20°C. One measurement was performed for verification . No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time were observed.
As all measured values were higher than 60 mN/m, the reaction mass of DIPE and 2-methylpent-2-ene was classified as not surface active.
The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range.
