Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Phototransformation in air T1/2 = 5.2 hours or 0.44 days (12 hrs daylight) for DIPE and T1/2=1.5 hours or 0.12 days (12 hrs daylight) for 2-methylpent-2-ene at 298K (sensitizer: OH radical) (AOP win v1.92).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A degradation rate constant with OH radicals of 24.3371 E-12 cm3 molecule-1 sec-1 at 25 deg C and 1.5E6 OH/cm3 for DIPE and of 88.2733 E-12 cm3/molecule-sec for 2 -methylpent-2 -ene at 25°C and 1.5E6 OH/cm3

for 2 -methylpent-2 -ene was estimated using AOP win v1.92, based on SAR developed by Atkinson. Both DIPE and 2 -methylpent-2 -ene are expected to rapidly degrade in the atmosphere by hydroxyl radical attack.
