Biodegradation in water: screening tests:

The study was conducted according to OECD 301D and GLP using activated sludge (Hartwell, 2012). Under aerobic test conditions the activated sludge was exposed to hydrocarbons, C11-C19, isoalkanes, cyclics, < 2% aromatics at 5 mg/L. After 14 days, 32.9% degradation related to chemical oxygen demand (COD) was measured and after 28 days, Distillates (Fischer-Tropsch), 210-360 degree Celsius, hydrotreated, isoalkanes, cyclics, <0.1% aromatics were biodegraded for 23.8% related to COD. Therefore, the test substance is considered not readily biodegradable.
