Description of key information

pKa= 4.5 at 23°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Because of the limited solubility of the test item in water the measurements were carried out with varying volume concentrations of isopropanol. The value given is the value obtained after extrapolation to water free of isopropanol.

Because of similar mesomeric and inductive effects the value of the test item should be close to the pKa-value of phydroxybenzoic acid which has a pKa of 4.54 (see W. Huber, "Titrationen in nichtwassrigen Lösungsmitteln", Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft, Frankfurt am Main 1964). The pKa found for the test item can be considered as plausible.
