Short-term toxicity studies are available for the three standard trophic levels fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae. Fish turned out to be the most sensitive species based on the acute studies. A LC50 (96 h) of 0.0602 mg/L was determined in an OECD 203 guideline study on the acute toxicity to Danio rerio. In the available study on Daphnia magna, following OECD guideline 202, an EC50 (48 h) of 0.18 mg/L was determined. The study according to OECD 201 conducted with the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata resulted in an ErC50 (72 h) of 1.8 mg/L and ErC10 (72 h) of 0.66 mg/L.

The respiration of activated sludge microorganisms was found to be inhibited in a test according to OECD 209 resulting in an EC50 (3 h) of 263 mg/L and an ErC10 (3 h) of 5.5 mg/L.
