Additional information

Ready biodegradability studies are available for isomaltulose (CAS 13718-94-0), trehalulose (CAS 51411-23-5) and palatinosesyrup (consists mainly of glucose, fructose and sucrose). The tests were conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 B and GLP (Lebertz, 2008). Activated sludge from a sewage treatment plant treating predominantly domestic sewage was used as inoculum. All tested substances turned out to be readily biodegradable, with 90%, 85% and 82% biodegradation after 28 days, for isomaltulose, trehalulose and palatinosesyrup respectively. Since the tested substances cover its main constituents, Reaction mass of 1-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-D-fructose and 6-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-D-fructose and fructose and glucose and sucrose can be considered readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
