Whilst heating the test item, self-heating of the sample was observed. On completion of the test the testing cube contained a small amount of charred black solid which was also noted beneath the cube.

Executive summary:

Introduction

This study was conducted to determine the relative self-ignition temperature of the test material. The method was designed to be compatible with guideline Method A16 Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Results & Conclusions

Whilst heating the test item, self-heating of the sample was observed. On completion of the test the testing cube contained a small amount of charred black solid which was also noted beneath the cube. The test material was determined not to have a self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.
