Additional information

The solubility of the test material was determined using the flask method in a key study by Duthel (1995). The study was performed under GLP conditions and in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 105 and EU Method A.6. Based on the principles for assessing data quality defined by Klimisch et al (1997), this study was assigned a reliability score of 1.

The flask method was used based on the theoretical saturation concentration of 330 g/L. The test was performed using three 15 mL glass tubes, in duplicate. In each, about 4 g of test material were mixed with 5 mL of water i.e. 800 g/L of test material. The samples were agitated and sonicated. The test was carried out at 30°C. After equilibration, each sample was centrifuged for 1 hour 30 minutes at 3000 r.p.m. at about 30 °C. The supernatants were centrifuged again for 30 minutes at 4500 r.p.m. at about 30 °C. Saturation of the preparation was confirmed by the presence of a pellet after centrifugation. The supernatants were diluted (1/10000) in water for injection, and analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Under the conditions of the test, the test material was determined to be very soluble at 365 g/L using the flask method.
