Description of key information

The boiling point of PC2414 could not be established, PC2414 was shown to decompose from approximately 121 °C (394 K).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of PC2414 was determined using a capillary method/melting temperature device with liquid bath in accordance with the guideline EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature).

PC2414 was shown to decompose after melting (and prior to boiling) from approximately 200 °C (473 K) in a preliminary test. However, as a result of the low rate of enthalpy change during decomposition, the onset temperature could only be approximated. An overall decomposition temperature from approximately 121°C (394 K) could be determined in the definitive test. As a result of a low rate of colour change during decomposition, the onset temperature could only be approximated. In the preliminary test, similar thermographic profiles were obtained using air and nitrogen atmosphere, suggesting that the observed decomposition is thermal and not oxidative.

In summary, the boiling point of PC2414 could not be established, PC2414 was shown to decompose from approximately 121 °C (394K).
