Description of key information

The NOEC or EC10 values for non-arthropod soil invertebrates of high quality that have been carried forward for the HC5 & PNEC derivation range between 46.5 mg Ni/kg and 1,140 mg Ni/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Toxicity to soil macro-organisms except arthropods

Chronic data are available for 4 different species of non-arthropod soil invertebrates. NOEC/EC10 values range from 46.5 mg Ni/kg for reproduction by the earthworm Eisenia fetida (University of Ghent and Euras, 2005) to 1,140 mg Ni/kg for reproduction by E. fetida (University of Ghent and Euras, 2005).  Below are the accepted high quality studies for non-arthropod soil macro-organisms used for derivation of the HC5 and terrestrial PNEC.
