Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information):
negative

3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate (tricyclodecenyl acetate) gives negative results for gene mutation in Ames test conductedon S. typhimurium strains TA98, TA100,TA1535, TA1537, and TA1538 without metabolic activation.
Executive summary:

In an Ames test (Ames et al., 1975), 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methanoinden-6-yl acetate (tricyclodecenyl acetate), in dimethyl sulfoxide from doses 0.00001 to 0.01 ug/plate was not mutagenic in Salmonella typhimurium strains TA98, TA100,TA1535, TA1537, and TA1538 with and without addition of S9 liver fractions from Aroclor induced rats. Higher doses could not be tested due to bacteriostatic effects.
