Description of key information

In accordance with Sect. 9.4, Col. 2 Annex IX of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2206 the performance of a test for toxicity to terrestrial plants was considered not scientifically justified. Direct exposure to the terrestrial compartment is not intended. In addition, indirect exposure to the soil compartment via sewage sludge can practically be excluded, since the substance is hydrolytically unstable. In a biodegradation study (MITI, 2011), the test substance Sika Hardener LH was completely hydrolyzed to 2,2-dimethyl-3-oxopropyl dodecanoate and hexamethylenediamine. These converted products were biodegraded. The percentage (average) of biodegradation by BOD was 91 % after 28 days. Therefore, the test substance is considered to be readily biodegradable. During professional and consumer use, the substance is incorporated in a polymer matrix, and is in conclusion not present as such in the environment. Safe use was shown in the CSR for all uses and environmental compartments. In conclusion, the CSR does not indicate the need to investigate further terrestrial toxicity.Therefore, no tests on terrestrial plants are provided.
