after 48 hours - stability samples (duplicate samples from the single test medium and duplicate samples from the control

Test solutions

Details on test solutions:
test solution prepared by dissolving 30 mg test item completely in 300 ml test water by intense stirring for 10 minutes at RT

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):

Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Strain/clone: clone 5
- Source: originally supplied by the University of Sheffield/UK
- Age at the start of the test (mean and range, SD): 6-24 hrs old and are not first brood progeny
- Feeding during test: none

Details on test conditions:
TEST SYSTEM
- Test vessel: 100-ml glass beaked filled with 50 ml test medium
- Type (delete if not applicable): covered with glass plates
- Aeration: test water aerated prior to the start of the study until oxygen saturation was reached. During the test period the test water was not aerated
- No. of organisms per vessel: 10
- No. of vessels per concentration (replicates): two
- No. of vessels per control (replicates): two
- Biomass loading rate: < one daphina per 2 ml test medium

TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water: reconstituted test water
- Alkalinity: 0.8 mmol/l
- Ca/mg ratio: 4/1
- Culture medium different from test medium: no
- Intervals of water quality measurement: at the start and at the end of the test, pH values, the dissolved oxygen concentrations and the water temperature were determined in the single test concentration and the control. The appearance of the test medium was visually recorded at the start of the test and after 24 and 48 hours.

OTHER TEST CONDITIONS
- Photoperiod: 16-hr light and 8 hr darkness with 30 minute transition period
- Light intensity: 550-685 lux

EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED (with observation intervals if applicable) : daphnids were observed form immobility after 24 and 48 hrs of exposure
Reference substance (positive control):
yes
Remarks:
Potassium dichromate
