In an OECD ready biodegradation test conducted in freshwater, Diutan was found to be readily biodegradable (95% degradation after 28 days) passing the 10-day window criterion. Also in an OECD biodegradation test conducted with seawater,76% degradation after 21 days was observed indicating that Diutan has potential to degrade in the marine environment as well as under freshwater conditions.
