First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air.  Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes.  Seek medical attention immediately. Do not use

chemical antidote.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash immediately with with soap and water for at least 15

minutes, then rinse with water for at least 5 minutes. If

reddening persists, or if open sores or blisters develop,

seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemical, water fog and alcohol foam may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of nitrogen

together with hydrogen chloride and methyl chloride.

Protective equipment: Wear full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing

apparatus with full facepiece.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Remove all

sources of ignition.  Stop spill at source, dike area of

spill to prevent spreading.  Absorb spill using a suitable

absorbent material and transfer to labelled containers.

Dispose of by incineration in accordance with local

regulations.  Do not allow spill to enter sewers, streams or

other water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions when handling organic

chemicals.  Ensure adequate ventilation.  Wear suitable

protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry well

ventilated area. Keep away from heat and other sources of

ignition.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration at a

suitable facility.  Waste gas treatment to remove oxides of

nitrogen and hydrogen chloride gas should be fitted. (A661)

can be disposed of safely via dilution in water and sewage

treatment.
