Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to the fresh air. Seek immediate medical

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes.  Seek

immediate medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and plenty of water for

at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical advice.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Cool containers with water spray. Water, foam, carbon

dioxide and dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon

and, above temperatures of 325 deg C, corrosive fumes of

hydrogen bromide and bromine. Traces of brominated furans

and dioxins may also be formed.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus in positive pressure

mode should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Avoid dust

formation, sweep up spill transfer to labelled containers.

Dispose of by incineration in accordance with local

regulations (cf 6.1.3). Ventilate area and wash spill site.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling organic

chemicals. Safety goggles and leather-palm work gloves

should be worn. A category 21C air-purifying respirator with

a high efficiency particulate filter including disposable

respirators should also be worn.

Storage: Store in tightly closed labelled containers in a dry, well

ventilated area.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25 kg paper bags

70 kg fiber drums

500 kg/1000 kg big bags

Containers of 18-20 tonnes

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance may be recycled as part of the usual process

for plastics recycling. (A612)

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended, the substance should not be disposed of at

a controlled landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent and

dispose of by incineration at an approved facility using a

minimum temperature of 1200 deg C and a minimum residence

time of 2 seconds using excess oxygen (to avoid dioxin/

furan formation). Waste gas treatment to remove hydrogen

bromide and bromine should be fitted. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended, the substance should not be released to

surface waters or through waste water treatment plants.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain except as

part of an article. In view of this, recovery for reuse is

not feasible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, the substance will only enter the public

domain incorporated in an article.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Articles containing the substance may be disposed of in the

usual manner (ie in domestic waste).
