Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

From a SAR based on supplement to A17 method and appendix 6 of the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Test and Criteria (4th edition 2003, United Nations), one can establish beyond reasonable doubt that Guaiacol is incapable of reacting exothermically with a combustible material, since the molecule contains only Oxygen, bonded to Carbon and Hydrogen.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

A test (A21 or ONU O.2) need not to be performed.
