Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and launder before use.
Thoroughly wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.
Accidental release measures
personnel from the immediate vicinity and isolate the
affected areas. Collect the spillage, preferably by vacuum,
and place in a suitably labelled, sealable container for
disposal or recovery. Flush the spillage site with water to
an effluent drain for treatment. Do not allow the substance
to enter watercourses.
If the spillage was in an enclosed or partially enclosed
area, thoroughly ventilated and test the area before
allowing reaccess.
Dispose of waste material in accordance with local
regulations by incineration.
Handling and storage
conditions of good industrial hygiene.
Menthyl glyoxylate hydrate is added to the reaction vessel
by a unique valve system designed to minimise exposure. The
reaction vessel is supplied with exhaust ventilation.
An air-fed protective suit designed to protect the head and
skin (CA/25/91), plastic gloves (BS1651) and rubber boots
(BS1870) should be worn.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area in a clearly
labelled sealed container.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance is to be supplied in 20 kilo double polythene
bags in clearly marked, securely sealed, fibre board drums
of 65 litre capacity.

explosion.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
economically feasible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Dissolve in a suitable, flammable solvent and burn the
solution in a licensed incinerator in accordance with local
regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
