- PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION: This study was run with a dilution water control together with nominal test substance concentrations of 10, 18, 32, 56 and 120 mg/L. Test solutions were prepared by the direct addition of the required amount of test substance to 1000 mL of dilution water. A 180 mg/L solution was prepared in the same way. These solutions were then stirred thoroughly for 24 hours to allow complete dissolution of the test substance. After stirring, a 120 mg/L test solution was prepared by dilution of the 180 mg/L solution. All test solutions were observed to be clear and colourless. These test solutions were not changed or aerated during the 48 hour exposure period.

EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED (with observation intervals if applicable) : Assessments of the response of the Daphnia were made at 24 and 48 hours after commencement of the study. Each Daphnia was viewed by eye, and was defined as affected if showing no whole body movement relative to the water within a period of 15 seconds, even if movement of individual appendages was visible.
