Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) hydrolyses is no significant route of degradation in the environment. In air the substance will rapidly degrade by photochemical processes. The substance is inherently biodegradable and readily biodegradable failing the 10-d window (> 60% degradation within 28d). As the logKow is <3 bioaccumulation of the substance is unlikely, which is supported by the calculated BCF values < 21.9.

The calculated Mackay level III distribution shows, that when the substance is released to water, it will stay in water (99.7%) and partition to a negligible extend to sediment (0.3%). When released to air the substance will mainly partition between soil (43.8%) and air (42.7%) with a smaller fraction partitioning to water (13.5%).

In conclusion, EGDMA is readily biodegradable (failing 10-d window) and nether persistent nor bioaccumulative in the environment.
