Reference
Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Contact with:
powdered cellulose
Key result
Sample tested:
test mixture as specified
Remarks:
2:1 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
mean burning time
Result:
400 s

The cone-shaped pile ignited after 3 seconds of application of flame and it burnt slowly and completely without crackling sound.

Since the vigour of the reference substance (burnt completely with the crackling sound) was more than that of the test mixture (which ignited after 3 seconds burnt slowly and completely without crackling sound), and the burning time of the test mixture was significantly greater than that of the reference substance it was concluded that, the test item (dibenzetano crystallized) is Non-Oxidizing’ in Nature and no further testing was carried out.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Dibenzetane is regarded as non-oxidizing.
