Additional information

Abiotic degradation is not a relevant pathway in the environmental fate of 2-(1-methylethoxy)ethyl acetate (CAS 19234-20-9). Evaporation from the water phase in relevant amounts is unlikely based on the Henry’s Law constant (< 1 Pa m³/mole (HENRYWIN v3.20); Corti, 2011). The vapour pressure of 700 Pa indicates a potential for volatilization. However, the substance is susceptible to undergo rapid indirect photodegradation in air (DT50 < 24 h). Therefore, accumulation in air and the subsequent transport to other environmental compartments is not expected. The estimated half-lives for abiotic hydrolysis are > 24 h at pH 7 and pH 8, indicating that significant hydrolysis is not expected to occur in natural waters.
