Any other information on results incl. tables
During the first main test the 10% / 90% Titanium(IV) oxysulfate/cellulose mixture showed a burning rate of 0.444 mm/s. After the test unaltered test item remained under the surface of the pile. All other mixtures burned up to 10 seconds without ignition source but the flame did not spread.
For more detailed results, see data table attached.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- other: no oxidising properties
- Remarks:
- Migrated information
- Conclusions:
- Titanium(IV) oxysulfate is considered to have no oxidizing properties.
- Executive summary:
The determination of the oxidizing properties of Titanium(IV) oxysulfate was performed in accordance with theDirective 92/69,Publication No. L383, December 1992 and Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A.17 “Oxidizing Properties (solids)”.
During the preliminary test the Titanium(IV) oxysulfate/cellulose mixture was glowing slightly, but did not ignite. The barium nitrate/cellulose mixture during the same test burned for 52 sec with a greenish, blazing flame.
Details of the burning behavior of these mixtures are not given here, but are part of the raw data.
Five additional measurements were performed to measure the burning rate of the 10% / 90% Titanium(IV) oxysulfate/cellulose mixture. The results of all six determinations are summarized in Table 1.
The fastest reference mixture was the one containing 50% of barium nitrate and had a burning rate of 0.552 mm/s. Therefore all burning rates of the relevant test item mixtures are smaller than the burning rate of the reference mixture. In conclusion, the test item has no oxidizing properties.
