Results and discussion

Test results (Oxidising solids)
Sample tested:
inert atmosphere
Parameter:
burning rate
Remarks on result:
other: As a false positive result was suspected a test under inert atmosphere was conducted. At this test the flame died after 1-2 seconds. Therefore, the test item is considered to have no oxidising properties.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item 1, 3, 5-TRICHLORO-2 , 6 -DINITROBENZENE (DNTCB) is classified to have no oxidising properties.
Executive summary:

Title of Study: Determination of Oxidising Properties of 1, 3, 5-TRICHLORO-2 , 6 -DINITROBENZENE (DNTCB) according to EU A.17

Findings and Results: In the pre-test, the mixture of cellulose and test item burned with an orange flame. No sparks and no fizzles were observed.

The maximum burning rate of mixtures of a reference item (Ba(NO3)2) was determined. Likewise, the burning rates of mixtures of the test item with cellulose (in different proportions) were determined.
The average burning rate exceeded the maximum burning rate of the mixture of reference material and cellulose. However, as a false positive result was suspected, the test was repeated with the mixture showing the highest burning rate under an inert atmosphere. Here, there was no spread of the flame and therefore the test item 1, 3, 5-TRICHLORO-2 , 6 - DINITROBENZENE (DNTCB) is classified to have no oxidising properties.
