Results and discussion

Boiling point
Atm. press.:
98.7 kPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
190 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The decomposed test substance boiled from 295 °C on.

Any other information on results incl. tables

The test started at 130 °C. The colour of the test substance changed from yellowish to brown at 190 °C, to dark brown at 230 °C and to black at 265 °C. From 190 °C to 265 °C blistering not emerging the fused capillary was observed.

At about 295 °C the decomposed test substance started boiling and bubbles emerged rapidly from the lower open end of the capillary. Between 295 °C and 365 °C the test substance boiled but the capillary was not longer observable. At about 365 °C the test substance boiled over. Identical observations were made in both samples.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test substance decomposed before boiling. Decomposition was indicated by a significant change of colour at 190 °C. The decomposed test
substance boiled from 295 °C on.
Executive summary:

The method of Siwoloboff was used.

The atmospheric pressure during the test was 98.7 kPa (calibrated barometer GPB 230, Petrotest, Germany).

The test substance decomposed before boiling. Decomposition was indicated by a significant change of colour at 190 °C. The decomposed test substance boiled from 295 °C on.
