Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Dynamic viscosity is 31 mPas at 25 °C (manufacturer's in-house method: DKTM-112.1).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
31 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Key value was determined with capillary method by using manufacturer's in-house method DKTM-112 -1.

This substance is hydrolytically unstable (half-life < 10 minutes; OECD 111). When it comes in contact with water or moisture a complete hydrolysis will take place with no significant reaction products other than isopropyl alcohol, ethyl acetoacetate and insoluble hydrated titanium oxides. Because of rapid hydrolysis, the CSA concentrates on the most hazardous degradation product which is isopropyl alcohol.

As the hydrolysis is the driving force for the fate and pathways of the substance, viscosity of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) released in water is used as a key value in CSA when relevant (see section 9 & 10 of CSR). This value (2.038 mPas) is obtained from a peer-reviewed handbook (Lide 2008).
