Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Hydrolysis of the members of the category Fatty Acids is not expected based on the molecular structure (aliphatic and mostly saturated carbon chains). If fatty acids are released into aquatic environment, degradation will be dominated by biological degradation. Therefore no tests for the determination of hydrolysis as a function of pH have to be conducted. The substance can be considered stable at environmentally relevant temperatures regarding abiotic degradation/ hydrolysis based on chemicals structure and reactivity.

In addition: In accordance with REACH Annex VIII column 2, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable or highly insoluble in water.
