Link to relevant study record(s)
- Endpoint:
- water solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- supporting study
- Study period:
- autumn 1996
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: The study has been performed according to OECD and/or EC guidelines, and according to GLP principles.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
- Type of method:
- column elution method
- Water solubility:
- < 0.2 mg/L
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- pH:
- > 6.3 - < 8
- Details on results:
- no significant and reproducible differences were observed in the chromatograms of samples from the blank column as compared to the chromatograms of samples from the loaded columns
as pH of the aqueous solutions did not change significantly with time, this may indicate that significant hydrolysis is not taking place - Conclusions:
- The water solubility of Wingstay L-HLS was determined to be less than 0.2 mg/L at 20°C.
- Endpoint:
- water solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 1998-2000
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: The study has been performed according to OECD and/or EC guidelines, and according to GLP principles.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
- GLP compliance:
- yes
- Type of method:
- column elution method
- Water solubility:
- < 0.01 mg/L
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- pH:
- > 6 - < 6.7
- Remarks on result:
- other: LOQ of the method was 0.01 mg/L
- Details on results:
- At both flow rates no levels of test substance were detected above the limit of quantification (LOQ). Also, no test substance was detected in the samples from the blank column. The length of the experiment (over 332 h) would indicate that true equilibrium had been reached and that the solubility is very low. Therefore, it was concluded that the water solubility of Wingstay L-HLS is < 0.01 mg/L.
- Conclusions:
- Interpretation of results (migrated information): insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L)
The water solubility of Wingstay L-HLS was found to be less than 0.01 mg/L at 20 °C.
Referenceopen allclose all
the analytical method was shown to be linear to 0.1 mg/l
as the samples were diluted 1:1 with acetonitrile, the solubility was stated as < 0.2 mg/L
Description of key information
Two GLP studies were available to cover this endpoint.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 0.01 mg/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
The water solubility of the substance is < 0.01 mg/l. The substance shall therefore be considered as insoluble in water.
