Administrative data

First-aid measures

· General information: Remove contaminated clothing.

· After inhalation: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of symptoms.

· After skin contact: Wash with soap and water.

· After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult doctor.

· After swallowing: Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water. Seek immediate medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

· Suitable extinguishing agents: Carbon dioxide (CO₂), extinguishing powder or water spray/fog.

Fight larger fires with water spray/fog or alcohol-resistant foam.

· For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents Water with a full water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

          Risk of dust explosion.

Carbon monoxide (CO) and Carbon dioxide (CO₂)

          Soot

Advice for firefighters

· Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

· Additional information Collect contaminated fire fighting water separately. It must not enter drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Wear suitable protective clothing.

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Avoid causing dust.

Remove all ignition sources.

Do not breathe dust.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter drainage system, surface or ground water.

Inform respective authorities in case product reaches water or sewage system.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

 Ensure adequate ventilation.

 Collect mechanically.

Collect spilt material into waste containers for disposal. Uncontaminated material can be returned to the manufacturer for recycling.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.

  Prevent formation of dust.

  Do not breathe dust.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Make sure that all applicable workplace limits are observed.

· Information about protection against explosions and fires:

Dust can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.

Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.

  Protect against electrostatic charges.

· Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

· Storage

· Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers:

Observe all local and national regulations for storage of water polluting products.

· Information about storage in one common storage facility: Not required.

· Further information about storage conditions:

Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed containers.

  Store in a dark place.

Protect from humidity and keep away from water.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

· Components with critical values that require monitoring at the workplace:

Observe all workplace limits for dust.

Exposure controls

· Personal protective equipment

· General protective and hygienic measures

Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and food.

  Do not breathe dust.

Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.

Wash hands during breaks and at the end of the work.

· Breathing equipment:

Use breathing protection in case of dust formation.

If all workplace limits are observed and good ventilation is ensured, no special precautions necessary.

· Protection of hands:

 Protective gloves

To avoid skin problems reduce the wearing of gloves to the required minimum.

Check the permeability prior to each renewed use of the glove.

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation.

Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.

· Material of gloves

 Synthetic gloves

The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

· Penetration time of glove material

The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

· Eye protection: Safety glasses

· Body protection: Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure.

· Limitation and supervision of exposure into the environment

Do not allow to enter drainage system, surface or ground water.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to be avoided:

 Heat

Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

  Sources of ignition

· Possibility of hazardous reactions Risk of dust explosion.

· Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents

· Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon monoxide (CO) and Carbon dioxide (CO₂), Soot

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Uncontaminated material can be returned to the manufacturer

for recycling.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration at 1000

deg C.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is insoluble in water and can be removed by

filtration. After recovery the substance can be incinerated.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from paper is not feasible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance can be disposed of in domestic waste.
