First-aid measures

General advice

Take into consideration the personal protection.

Keep away from the dangerous area. Take off immediately the stained or soaked clothes and dispose of in a safe way. Keep the affected person warm, leave him resting in a quiet place and cover him.

Do not leave the affected person without surveillance.

In case of unconsciousness: lay on one side in a stable position.

Inhalation

In case of aerosol or mist formation, inhalation may occur.

Take the affected people outdoors.

In case of suffocation: give oxygen. Seek medical advice.

In case of respiratory arrest: artificial respiration, seek medical treatment immediately.

Skin contact

Wash immediately the affected area with plenty of water for, at least, 15 minutes.

If the discomfort continues, seek medical treatment immediately.

Eye contact

With the eyelid opened, wash immediately and thoroughly with plenty of water for, at least, 10 minutes.

Seek medical advice immediately. (Cause: chemical eye burn).

Ingestion

Rinse mouth.

Drink plenty of water.

Seek medical advice immediately.

Advices for the doctor

At the beginning only the local effect predominates and it is characterized by damages in the tissue which progress quickly in depth.

After inhaling aerosols or mists of caustic liquids, coughing is a symptom of irritation of the respiratory tract.

Depending on the intensity of action, the caustic liquids cause serious irritation in the eye, destruction and detachment of the corneal epithelium and of the conjunctiva, opacity of the cornea, edemas and ulcerations.

Danger of losing sight!

On skin, the observed damage could vary from irritations and superficial damages to ulcerations and scarring.

Fire-fighting measures
