Description of key information

At least 1000g of the test substance can be dissolved in 1L water. The resulting clear "solution" is viscous and intensively coloured.
It is not possible to measure the actual solubility. A highly viscous solution is produced which it is not possible to filter. Value quoted (WATER SOLUBILITY: >500000 mg/litre (at 20°C) is based on the preliminary test.
The water solubility of Cobratec 435 has been determined at 20°C.

Additional information

In preliminary tests increasing amounts of the test substance could be dissolved in 10 ml double distilled water resulting in solutions with increasing viscosity. Up to 10 g of the test substance was dissolved completely resulting in a viscous intensively coloured solution.

Another 6.5 g of the test substance were added. After stirring in a thermostated bath (20°C ± 0.5°C) for two hours again a viscous solution was obtained. Visually, the test substance seemed to be dissolved conpletely. An attempt to filtrate the solution failed due to the high viscosity.

It was concluded that it is not possible to complete the water solubility test as described in the Test Guideline A.6 of EEC Directive 84/449/EEC. This is because of the fact that aqueous solutions of five times the quantity of the preliminary test (50 g !!!) in 10 ml water which has been distilled twice should be stirred for 1,2 and 3 days according to the Guideline' this supplementary investigation is neither possible nor meaningful.
