Het SCIP-formaat structureert de bij ECHA in te dienen informatie over voorwerpen die stoffen van de kandidatenlijst bevatten in een concentratie van meer dan 0,1 % gewichtsprocent.

Het formaat is gebaseerd op XML en gedefinieerd met inachtneming van de wetgevingstekst van artikel 9, lid 1, punt i), van de kaderrichtlijn afvalstoffen, artikel 33, lid 1, van REACH, de “Non-paper on the implementation of Articles 9(1)(i) and 9(2) of the revised Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC” (non-paper van de Commissie over de tenuitvoerlegging van artikel 9, lid 1, punt i), en artikel 9, lid 2, van de herziene kaderrichtlijn afvalstoffen (Richtlijn 2008/98/EG)) en de richtsnoeren van ECHA betreffende vereisten voor stoffen in voorwerpen.

Het SCIP-formaat is compatibel met IUCLID, een tool die door ECHA in samenwerking met de OESO is ontwikkeld ter bevordering van de harmonisatie van gegevens over chemische stoffen. Meer informatie over deze tool vindt u op de IUCLID-website.
