Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Under the conditions of these tests Coagulant I22 (solid) did not exhibit explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

This test has been performed based on the fact that:

-In the structure of Coagulant 122 there is a structural alert for explosivity as it contains an energetic nitrogen – oxygen bond (RN-OH – and based on UN manual of tests and criteria, Appendix 6, table A6.1, hydroxyamine).

-The oxygen balance of this material is between -200 and zero (actual value -177) which is another indicator of explosivity.

Method used:Koenen test apparatus for thermal sensitivity (effect of a flame), fall hammer for determination of mechanical sensitivity (shock) and friction test apparatus for determination of mechanical sensitivity (friction) has been used for the determination of the explosiveness for Coagulant 122 (solid).

Result:There was no audible or visible reaction with any of the tests.

Justification for classification or non-classification

MECHANICAL SENSITIVITY (SHOCK and FRICTION)

There was no audible or visible reaction with any of the tests.

THERMAL SENSITIVITY (EFFECT OF A FLAME)

No explosion or deformation to any of the tubes was observed
